Comedy and Controversy

An awardwinning comedian, who doesn’t shy away from controversy, brings his unique brand of humour to The Dukes this month.

Andrew Lawrence’s online rant about a range of issues including UKIP, the BBC and women comedians brought him into direct conflict with fellow comic Dara O Briain last autumn.

Now he’s on the road with his critically acclaimed show – Reasons To Kill Yourself – which played to sell out audiences at last year’s Edinburgh festival and comes here on April 30.

Using a range of voices, Andrew ponders his ‘disappointing’ life and has some amusing thoughts on how awful the world is.

It’s a recipe which has served him well, having won numerous comedy awards and also leading to television appearances on Live at the Apollo and Stand-Up For The Week. He’s had three series of his own show on Radio 4 too.

Tickets to see Andrew Lawrence are £13/£11 concessions or £5 for standing places on the balcony. For more information and to book, ring The Dukes box office on 01524 598500 or visit www.dukes-lancaster.org. A £1 per transaction fee applies when booking online.

Live comedy at The Dukes is recommended for anyone aged 16 plus. Other comedians appearing during the season include Lucy Porter(April 17) and Henning Wehn(May 17 – sold out).
