Please note that our own programme of theatre, live events, film, creative learning and artist development takes precedence for use of our auditorium and we may not always have availability for hired events.
The Dukes will consider hires for conferences, workshops and meetings, however we do not accept hires for performance events but please free to send us information to be considered by our programming team at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think your event would suit our programmes.
If you are an emerging artists and theatre maker please take a look at the development opportunities we provide here.
We accept private hires for film screenings but evening availability is very rare.
The Dukes will consider hire enquires from anyone but reserves the right to refuse any enquiries.
The Rake is our 313 seat auditorium with raked stadium style seating and an end on stage. Fantastic full visibility is offered from all seats. This space is also used for our cinema screenings.
The Round is our beautiful, 240 seat theatre space and, coincidentally, the seating is in the round! Occasionally this space also forms a horseshoe configuration on 3 sides.
Moor Space is on the corner of Moor Lane and Edward Street and offers a flexible space suitable for performances, rehearsals and participatory activities. The space includes traverse style seating, but can also be used ‘end on’ or with cabaret style seating.
The Dukes Gallery presents work by some of the region’s top artistic talent. It is open all day and entry is free. You can pop in anytime, but if you’re making a special journey please contact the Box Office beforehand as occasionally the gallery is closed for private functions.
If you would like to exhibit your work at The Dukes our submissions procedure can be found here: Gallery Submission
Get Together in The Gallery
The Gallery is ideal for small gatherings and get-togethers. We have a bar for refreshments and we can also provide catering for small events.
You can decorate the space to suit your event and the projection equipment is available to hire.
Our Gallery is suitable for small events between 35 – 40 people, such as: children’s parties, meetings, leaving parties, private film screenings, groups and clubs.
For rates and availability please contact Front of House Manager email@example.com
The Dukes Cafébar is open to all from 12 noon until late. With friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere don’t leave your visits to pre-show only. We have a Gallery, free wifi, and children are welcome before 9pm. We serve Atkinson’s teas and coffees, Ginger Bakers cakes, vibrant salads, fresh sandwiches and healthy homemade soups. We have a good selection of soft drinks, bottled ales as well as Lancaster Beer on draught. If you are coming to see a film or performance why not arrive early and get a drink to take in with you?
